Privacy

Metabolomics Navigator is a public scientific resource. This notice explains how personal information associated with community contributions is handled.

Information submitted by contributors

When you submit a new Tool, resource, or Analytical Strategy through our GitHub contribution forms, the information you provide may include your name, ORCID iD, GitHub account information, and the scientific content of your submission.

Submissions are made through public GitHub issues. Information entered into those forms is therefore publicly visible on GitHub and is also subject to GitHub's own privacy terms and policies.

Contributor Directory

If you provide affirmative consent, Metabolomics Navigator will publish your name and, if supplied, your ORCID iD in the public Contributor Directory. We use this information to recognize community contributions and provide transparent attribution.

The Contributor Directory is generated only from catalogue records that contain an explicit record of consent. Historical submitters are not added automatically.

Legal basis and consent

Publication of your name and ORCID iD in the Contributor Directory is based on your affirmative consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time.

Retention

Contributor-attribution information is retained while the contribution remains part of the catalogue and consent remains in effect, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law or necessary to resolve a legal or integrity issue.

Your rights

Depending on applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to processing of, or request erasure of personal information associated with your contribution.

Right to erasure

You may withdraw consent and request removal of your name and ORCID iD from the Contributor Directory. We will process valid erasure requests without undue delay in accordance with applicable data-protection law. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Because submissions are made through public GitHub issues, removal from the Metabolomics Navigator website does not by itself remove information from GitHub. Requests concerning information present in GitHub issues or repository history may require a separate repository/GitHub process.

Contact

Data controller and project contact: Scott Jarmusch. For ordinary public project enquiries, open a GitHub issue. Do not post private information in an issue.

Send a privacy request

Use this form for privacy questions, corrections to your attribution, consent withdrawal or removal requests. Your message is sent through Formspree to the project contact; it is not published as a GitHub issue. Include only the information needed to identify your contribution. Do not send passwords, identity documents or sensitive personal data.

Formspree processes your email and message to deliver this request. Review Formspree’s privacy policy. After sending, Formspree displays a confirmation or any further verification needed.

Website analytics

Metabolomics Navigator may use Umami to measure aggregate website use, such as page views, referrers, device/browser categories, country-level location, and clicks on selected Tool and Education links. The analytics integration does not set cookies and is not configured to collect names, email addresses, form contents, search queries, or other information intended to identify a visitor.

Analytics is enabled only when a website identifier is configured for the production build. Selected click events contain catalogue identifiers such as Tool or Education resource slugs so we can understand which resources are useful.

Third-party services

Community submissions are hosted through GitHub. GitHub processes account and service data under its own privacy documentation. Contributors should review GitHub's privacy information before submitting personal data through GitHub.

Privacy requests use Formspree, which receives and stores form submissions and delivers email notifications. We use the information in your request to respond and handle the request. It is not added to the public Contributor Directory.

If website analytics is enabled, Umami processes anonymized usage data for the project. Umami states that its tracker does not use cookies or automatically collect personally identifiable information.
