Overview
SCiLS Lab provides an interactive environment for spatial segmentation, statistical comparison and visualization of MSI datasets. Import support and molecular annotation depend on licensed options; the separate SCiLS Scope viewer is not the full analysis product.
What can this tool do?
Common uses
- Explore spatial segmentation and differences among imaging regions.
- Export supported imaging data to imzML for downstream analysis.

Scope and considerations
Designed for
- Interactive MSI visualization and statistical analysis.
Not designed for
- Assuming every licensed edition includes every advertised annotation or import feature.
Important requirements
- A compatible 64-bit Windows workstation and license; consult current vendor hardware and module requirements.
Considerations
- Large datasets require substantial memory and storage.
- Image segmentation or colocalization is not sufficient evidence of molecular identity.
Access and documentation
Commercial Bruker software. Third-party/imzML import and MetaboScape-powered annotation are listed as optional; confirm the purchased edition and modules.
Evidence and review
Official Bruker product page and tutorials reviewed on 2026-09-11. No single dedicated publication for the current software suite verified; incidental application papers are excluded. No installation, license activation or benchmark performed.
No dedicated scholarly publication is listed. Follow the official documentation and resource-specific citation guidance.
